Expedition to RENTAP FORT open to Adventures

Betong Resident Offices Tourism Task Force Committee will be organising a trail expedition to Panglima Rentap Fort in Bukit Sadok on Sept. 25 and 26.
The expedition is organised in collaboration with Betong District Council's Madabe Club and Sri Aman Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK).
Expedition head Galong Luang highlighted yesterday (today at WAI FM 101.30) that this will be the second expedition for this year with the first expedition involving several departments and agencies including the heirs of Panglima Rentap and state Tourism  Ministry representatives.
"The programme is part of the tourism calendar's  activities for Betong division that aims to revisit the history of legendry Iban warrior Panglima Rentap as well as the settlement areas where the struggles took place which has become a heritage that must be protected and preserved," he said.
"In addition, the expedition also hopes to introduce Bukit Sadok as a historic tourist destination with unique flora and fauna to the public especially local communities surrounding Betong area." he added.

The committee, Galong pointed out, has received feedback from local communities about the development of eco-tourism for Bukit Sadok in the future.
"This is also another  reason for the expedition to be organised," he explained.
"Meanwhile the expedition will also hold a symbolic celebration for the 160th anniversary of Panglima Rentap Fort which was build in Bukit Sadok in 1854.
Galong, who is also the Betong division Deputy Residents, said that this expedition is now open for the public to join.
"Any one interested to join the expedition can obtain the forms from the secretariat in the Betong Resident Office," he said. This info also repeated through radio WAI FM 101.3 iban so that the information will reach to all interested participant in the country.
No fees will be charged but participation is limited to the first 150 participants who register only.
"Participants must prepare transportation and be equipped with equipment for the expedition which will take 2 days and one night," he advised.
However, Galong reminded that the organiser has the right to postpone or change the date of the expedition and participants cannot make any claim on any disaster (injuries, accident, loss or death) from organiser.
"Those with health problems are not encouraged to take part in this expedition," he said.
The closing date to submit entry forms is on or before Sept. 19.
