Dayak told to change mindset to progress

SRI AMAN: The Dayaks ought to change their mindset in all aspects of life if they aspire to achieve progress.

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said in todays modern world, the Dayaks ought to progress with other communities so that together they could contribute towards the developemt of the country.

"A change of mindset is crucial for the Dayaks if they want progress like the other communities and there are many fields for us to explore rather than depending on one particular field," he said after officiating at SUPP Gawai gathering organised by SUPP Lingga branch at Rumah Inchang at Skirau Ai, Bakong near here yesterday.

The Dayaks should emulate the Chinese and Malays who were already succesfull in many fields.

Harden, who is also Assistant Minister of Rural Development, also reminded the Dayaks to be more open-minded and support the government development policies to ensure they were not left behind.

"The government needs your support so that its development plans and programmes can be easily carried out," he said.
